Carnet de route
El Salvador

Here we are in Salvador, which is, with Belize, one of the smallest countries of Central America ; there are 5 million 897,000 inhabitants for 21 thousand 293 square kilometers. On the other hand, it’s more densely populated with 277 inhabitants per square kilometer.

El Salvador, like Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, were at war twenty years ago.

Here we are at the border with a little anecdote : our house is high and we’ve hung up the customs sign…. But straight away, with our ladder, it’s fixed up… Phew !!

You know, XL, our road stretches alongside the Pacific Ocean, so what a delight : Beach, fish, coconuts…

The Roman Catholic religion is present everywhere here.

The population is entitled to carry a hand weapon here, and it’s true there are very few tourists who go about to visit the place. In any case, this population is very hospitable, smiling, and moreover, in spite of the poverty and drought, there are no beggars…

….Local market….

…the heat is stifling…..

…local sweets….

…passage of lions for the circus….

…our home-made meatloaf..

…coconuts…drying….

Thank you Salvadorians for your warm welcome but our stay was too short… we’re nearing Honduras…

For the rest of the trip….
