Never before seen in Ushuaia, did such a convoy cross the largest continent, from the Northernmost city, to the Southernmost city, even the press echoed it, what a delight to be able to read an article about us during breakfast.

Newspaper of Ushuaia, capital of the Province of Tierra del Fuego, Of A.S. Argentine Republic. Thursday February 12th,  2009 - Edition 03420

They cross the American continent next to their owners in a fifth wheel.

On the internet two dogs narrate the eventful journeys of a trip that began at the“Top of the World"

Ulla is a doberman dog and XL a Yorkshire that arrived in Ushuaia, the “End of the World”, a few days ago, after a trip that began in Barrow, Alaska, which is known as the “Top  of the World". Both dogs narrate, on the Web site http:// www.les-poles-des-ameriques.org , the eventful journeys of the trip that their owners, Eliane and Daniel live alongside them, in a Dodge pick-up truck and camping car. The four French adventurers come from the island of  Saint Martin, in the Caribbean, where Daniel worked in his companies, until, reaching 50 years of age, he decided to pass the job on to his children and to devote his time  to travel with his wife and their inseparable dogs.

To undertake the trip they concocted a very interesting mixture containing a third of curiosity and obstinacy, a third of love and complicity, a third of life school, a zest of positive thinking, a fat slice of true freedom, all that sprinkled with a little philosophy.

They chose to carry out this trip based on  the constant challenge that Daniel had received from  people who said to him that to following that route  was " very dangerous, especially the Central America area" , but they can assure you that after having journeyed about 128_000 miles, they encountered no conflict, were not aggressed, threatened or robbed, but during this 18-month trip they were provided with  encouragement by nature, with extreme temperatures that ranged from 30 degrees below zero to 52 degrees above zero Celsius.   They assure that this it is the first trip that somebody has carried out from the North end to the South end of the American continent with a fifth wheel pulled by a pick-up truck, which altogether makes a vehicle of almost 15 meters in length. Eliane speaking on behalf of the dogs, showed that they narrate this adventure since as dogs they can express what they want based on whatever they feel happening to them during the trip, as if it was another point of view of history. Observing that “they say the truth, and the truth does not offend anyone”, and that this must be the reason for which they have 32,000 weekly visits on the web site. During the trip, that made them cross Alaska from North to South, Canada from West to East, the United States from Chicago to Los Angeles using thefamous Route 66, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Patagonia Argentina, they suffered 12 punctures, 2 collapses and a fire, but they did not have an accident nor were they ill.

Up to now, they have taken more than 4,000 photographs, and hope to take many more, since the trip continues towards the North of our country, soon to cross over to Paraguay, to visit the South of Brazil and Uruguay to the  final destination of this journey.
