Carnet de route
Belize

Here we are at the border to Belize…

XL, look, we’re going to change décor now so please promise me you won’t bark in Spanish any more as here, in spite of the fact that we’re in Central America, English is spoken here, just imagine !

Yes indeed, this tiny country was once a British colony ; you know, at the Immigration Department, you’d think we were at the exit of the plane in Sint Maarten at Princess Juliana Airport they’re so unpleasant…

Well, OK, this is promising….

The currency here is the US Dollar except that 2 Belize Dollars are equal to one US Dollar.

According to our masters who just subscribed the insurance policy enabling us to drive about a minimum of two days, we’re going to visit Belize City… then take the road towards Guatemala…

Look XL, a school transport pick-up just like in Saint Martin a few years ago…

Today, there would be a fine for the 15 passengers having paid the killer driver ! Waff …

It seems Belize is the pearl of deep sea divers… are there pearls there ?

XL, we’ll see this ?

Negative, let’s sleep please, there’s nothing to do in this country, when they’ll be pleasant and less racist, we’ll come back… it’s not our fault, Ulla, if we’re white !

Oh, no, you’re black, Ulla, and they’re still as unfriendly…

At our first stop on the roadside they even tried to steal our barbecue, tied with a chain to our trailer but I heard this… I barked and you, Ulla, you growled… bravo

Oh that’s right, do you remember how they ran…

Hey look, mormons…. Come on, let’s get some shut-eye after this past night…

Here are a few photographs… for our faithful readers and friends….

The local market

Downtown

…A difficult passage with our convoy…

The only place in which we were able to park for 10 dollars, but not safely…

A little gulp of rum, coconut..

And bye bye Belize heading for Guatemala

For the rest of the trip .....
